The MYP students participated in their first MYP summative assessments. Our young scientists in the MYP took center stage as they present their independent inquiry on concepts learned in the first unit.
Grade 6 students designed their own experiments to show the application of scientific methods and skills. Grade 7s created water rockets; Grade 8s designed a clever machine that combines two or more existing equipment to make people’s lives easier; and the Grade 9s used their understanding of mixture to design a water purifier set-up for a small village with limited resources.
In the process of scientific projects, they asked questions, proposed hypotheses, designed experiments, collected materials, verified the hypotheses, reflected on the results, and confidently explained their results to visitors who were very proud of what our young inquirers have already accomplished in their first unit.
